Son of James Sr. & Elizabeth (Berry) Pearl husband of Sarah H. (Wiseman) Pearl.

PEARL, JOSEPH,

Son of James Pearl, was born in Ohio in 1829, and came with his father to Oregon in 1852.

Spent the first years of his residence in Linn County in cultivating the soil, but when Halsey was founded, he entered upon commercial pursuits, and in 1876 became a member of the firm of Black, Pearl & Co., and continued so for seven years.

He is now a partner with his son James A. Pearl in the planing mill at Halsey, Linn, Oregon. This establishment was set up in 1872 by Allingham & Connor, but has passed through several changes of Ownership. It is a concern of considerable capacity, having a variety of machinery adapted to fill the needs of the neighborhood. It is driven by steam, and has planing and matching machines, scroll saws, etc.

Mr. Joseph Pearl's children are — James A., John R., Orpha J., Silas H., Martha A., Joseph W., Ida C., Alice, Fannie, Olive, and Edmund Cleve.
