John Clifton (Cliff) Griffith, Sr.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Saulters Funeral Home Chapel for John Clifton (Cliff) Griffith. Sr., 96, of Prentiss, who died Friday night at the Jefferson Davis County Extended Care Facility where he had resided for the past two years. Rev. Gary Strehlow, Rev. Gerald Aultman and Rev. Billy Greene officiated. Interment followed in the Whitesand Cemetery with Saulters Funeral Home in charge. Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mr. Griffith, one of Jefferson Davis County's oldest citizens, was a native and lifelong resident of the county where he farmed. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Hudson Griffith of Rt. 1, Collins: five sons, Marvin Griffith, J. C. Griffith. Jr., both of Prentiss, Noah Griffith of Rt. 2. Mt. Olive, Buford Griffith of Magee. and Paul Griffith of Jackson; five daughters, Mrs. Grady (Katie) Herrington, Mrs. Johnny (Ann) Frazier. both of Cleveland, Mrs. C.T. (Ola) Stanford of Skeene, Mrs. Lee Roberts of Magee, and Mrs. Willard (Linnie) Williams of Prentiss; 35 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren, and two stepsons: Leroy Hudson and William Albert Hudson, both of Rt 1, Collins.
