He died Friday at St. Luke's Hospital in Tryon, NC, after a long illness. Survivors included: his wife, Mrs. Grace Nelson Wheelon, daughters, Mrs. Florine Strange, Mras. Eleanor Abernathy, Mrs. Stella Wall, son, Floyd Whellon, sisters, Mrs. Rosa Guffey and Mrs. Sue Stuart, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was 83 years of age at his demise.
