MONTICELLO - Word has been received of the death of Marilyn Dilling Gay, 73, of Sebring, Fla., a former Monticello resident, who died Friday, May 9, 2003. She was born in Norway, Ind., on May 30, 1929, to Leslie and Leona Dilling. She married Clarence Ellis Gay on June 13, 1947. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Monticello. During her junior and senior years, she was a telephone operator for United Telephone Company, where she met her husband. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She and her family also lived in Rossville, Warsaw and Plymouth and Lake Placid, Fla. She was a member of the Indiana Tri Kappa sorority in Plymouth, the PEO and DA chapter of Warsaw. She loved to participate in sports, golf, bridge and to complete crossword puzzles. She was accomplished at needlework. For three decades, she and her sisters and family friend, Dona, made annual treks to Michigan to search for morel mushrooms. Other survivors include children, Linda Marie Gay Miller of Indianapolis, Bradley Steven Gay of Cincinnati and Jo Ellen Gay (Gary) Dorsey of Cincinnati; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Her sisters, Ruth Cottrell, Betty Rendel and Roberta Somers, are deceased. A memorial gathering will be at 3 p.m. today at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Sebring, Fla.
