A native of Goldsboro, NC, Mr. Perkins was born on January 8, 1925, and was a long time Atlanta and Lula resident. Faithful to God, his family, and his country, Gene was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving in the 2nd Infantry Division Signal Corps from 1946 until 1948. Gene was a 32 degree Mason, KCCH, belonging to the Clermont Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Beth. Gene and Beth lived life fully enjoying their family, traveling, and history. He loved history, and through his study of the bible, believed deeply in life everlasting.
Mr. Perkins is survived by his children Patricia and her husband Tom Bass, William and his wife Jan, Michael and his wife Jan, and Stephen Perkins; grandchildren Alex, Tyler, Suzanne, Sarah, Andrew and Elizabeth. Also surviving Gene is his brother Elmer Perkins; sister Inez Bush and sister in law Anne Code.
Gene's family is thankful to all the friends and neighbors who remained by his side over these many years.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 10AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
