Frank Baldwin, 90, a retired farmer, died at 1:45 o'clock Friday morning, Oct. 4, 1968, at the La Plata Nursing Home. He was born near Plevna and spent his entire life there until entering the nursing home Feb. 9, 1968. He was well known for his pioneering of the REA in Knox County and was the father of Charles W. Baldwin, former County Supervisor of the Farmers Home Administration. Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Hudson Rymer Funeral Chapel here with the Rev. Carroll Kakac of Shelbina officiating. Burial was in the Novelty Cemetery. Besides the son mentioned and daughter-in-law, Barthema, with whom he had made his home since the death June 17, 1947, of his wife, Mr. Baldwin is survived by two grandchildren, Charles R. Baldwin of Cape Girardeau and Nora Ann, Mrs. Darrel Caldwell, of Belleville, Ill., and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Baldwin was born Jan. 2, 1878, a son and one of the three children of Charlie and Allie Hickman Baldwin. His grandfather came from Kentucky to Knox County in 1839 and purchased land near Plevna which has since been in the family and is the present home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baldwin. Frank Baldwin attended the public schools at Plevna and the Kirksville Normal, now the Northeast Missouri State College. His mother died in 1889, when he was about 12 years old, and his father, September 2, 1929. He was married Feb. 12, 1902, at La Belle, to Anna E. Greeley and they were parents of the one son. Mr. Baldwin was a member of the Plevna Christian Church, had served as the president of the Plevna School Board many years, and was a Past Worshipful Master of the Edina Lodge No. 291, A, F. & A. M. He also served as a director of the Lewis County REA, representing Knox County, until about five years ago when he retired because of failing health. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Eva Ross Baldwin, who died Nov. 8, 1947, a brother, Carl Baldwin, Oct. 18, 1965, and a sister, Willie, Mrs. J. W. Hayden.
