Shortly after the birth of their only child, her first husband (Eduard Fischer) abandoned his family and never returned, reason unknown, his where a bouts was researched by the wife (through legal means), but nothing was ever found out. She had later in life received legal permission to remarry. If Katharina Morlock Fischer/Krüger knew the reason or had a clue as to why or what happened, she never reveled it to the family, even after being asked many times by her daughter. The abandoned wife struggled and became a Laundress to support herself and daughter.
