Bryant was born to a large family in NC, and came to WV after 1870, when the family was living in Ashe county, NC. At that time his household adjoined those of his brothers.
By 1880 his household was in Jumping Branch District, WV.
He was the eldest son of Isaiah and Mary Baugess Rose.

Bryant's name was enumerated in the 1890 census of June, in Jumping Branch, as a CSA veteran of Company K of the 51st Regiment of Virginia Infantry.
This record indicates he was a prisoner of war for 7 days.
Rosamond's nephew John Wingate also served in that regiment.

Bryant married Rosemond Wyatt in Ashe county, NC 10 Jan 1850.
The 1850 census for the household lists Bryant as 22, and Rosemond as 20, Grayson county (Rosemond gave her birth place as Virginia on the census of 1870).
The boundaries of these counties changed as they were reformed.
Ashe was formed partly from Wilkes county.
In 1860 they were still in Ashe county.
Land transactions are recorded in books of three states.
Bryant was a farmer, and the ancestor of the Roses of the Camp Creek community area of West Virginia.

Bryant's second marriage, to Eliza C. Farmer, on 9 April 1898 took place in Mercer county, WV.
They had one daughter, Violet Rose.

He died at Camp Creek, 81 years, 10 months, 3 days old.
Informant, son, Levy (as spelled on record, should be Levi).

Bryant Rose Dies At Camp Creek
in the Eighty-First Year of his Life

Bryant Rose Died at his home
at Camp Creek, Summers county,
on Sunday evening of last week in his eighty-first year. The burial took place Tuesday in the cemetery at the Primitive Baptist Church near his home.
Mr. Rose had been in bad health for the 3 months preceding his death, being afflicted with dropsy, and for several days the end was momentarily expected.
Bryant Rose was born in North Carolina in 1826.
He moved to West Virginia in 1871 and had resided in this state ever since that year. He was a farmer by occupation, and a very successful one. He was a man of more than ordinary intellectual endowments and possessed of many noble qualities.
Mr. Rose married a Miss Wyatt(e) of Virginia, who died about ten years ago. Since the death of his wife he had made his home with his children.
Mr. Rose was the father of thirteen children, eight of whom survive him.
They are R.D. Rose, of Hinton: Barton, Levi, and William of Camp Creek, Mrs. Mary Senter, of North Carolina, and C.C. Rose and Mrs. Nannie Shrewsbury, of Beckley.
Up to the time of his final illness, Mr. Rose had been ill scarcely a day during his long life of over four score years.

It seems that Wiley did not come to WV. There are children given the names of Creed, Elizabeth, Sophina or Seraphina in some compilations. I have not found anything further for those, other than a birthdate of 19 Nov 1850 for Creed in a book. It must be considered these children may have died in childhood. I think it should also be considered they might not have been the children of Bryant, but possibly relatives living with them. Bryant's obituary mentions that he was the father of thirteen, with 8 surviving at his death (perhaps not strictly accurate).
Bryant was apparently the only one of his siblings to relocate to West Virginia.
Rosamond had family who moved to Wyoming county, WV.

No two of any available records give the same estimates of Bryant's age, which is also true of most records involving members of the Rose families.
I have used the birth date given to me by Violet.

Records from the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia, the Indian Claims, The Rose Family Foundation, statements by spouse Eliza Rose, bible record of Violet J. Rose Taylor, family photographs, & research by descendants.
The obituary of Bryant's son, Barton Rose, is from records of the church,
contributed by Mr. Joe Smith.
