Mrs. Fred H. Voland, 77, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at her home, 819 Third St., Kiel.
The former Dora Pingel, she was born in the town of Schleswig, Oct. 13, 1880, a daughter of the late Jochim and Sophia Zachow Pingel. She attended the district school at Rockville and on March 12, 1902, was married to Fred Voland.
The couple operated the Pingel homestead farm at Rockville until they retired and moved to Kiel in 1942. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1952 before Mr. Voland's death Aug. 26, 1956.
Mrs. Voland was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed Church, Kiel, the Women's Guild of the church, the Rockville Merry-Go-Round Homemaker group and the Rockville Cemetery Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors include a son, Roy Voland, operating the family farm near Rockville; two daughters, Mrs. Henry (Esther) Kuester, R. 2, Kiel, and Mrs. Alvin (Elvira) Thielan of Manitowoc; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ida Ryder, Sheboygan. Two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Evangelical and Reformed Church, Kiel, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Tuesday and at the church from then until the time of services.
