She was born March 12, 1925, in New York City, the daughter of John and Alma Johnson O'Brien.
She was employed as a social worker for the state of Pennsylvania. In earlier years, she was employed as a beautician. She was a member of St. Callistus Church, where she was a charter member of the Altar Rosary Society and was a member of CD of A Court Callistus 66. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Employees Retirement System, where she served as its secretary for many years. She also was a member of her card club for more than 50 years and bowled in leagues at the Rose Bowl for many years.

She is survived by a son, Mark Henry of Erie; four daughters: Kathleen Callender of Jamestown, Mary Ann Burkey of Kensington, Md., Christine Carpenter of Aransas Pass, Texas, and Margie Benscoter of Fort Worth, Texas; four stepsons: Larry, Dennis, Terry and Robert Ackley, all of Kane; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and two sisters: Alice Freehill of New York City and Jane White of Short Hill, N.J.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Henry, whom she married May 4, 1946, in New York City; her second husband, Lyle Ackley, whom she married Feb. 15, 1969, in Kane; three brothers: Harry, John and Ernest O'Brien; a sister, Alma O'Brien; and a stepson, James Ackley.
