Margret "Marion" Murray is the daughter of Alexander Murray and Christy Leith, born in 1788 around Sutherlandshire, Scotland. (Women were often called by two or more names, other than birth name)

She married Hugh Gunn, unknown date but around 1812-1813.

By church records their children were listed as all lawfully begot and baptized. Many different spellings, will write just how things were originally written in the records of the Old Parish Register in Kinlochlaggan.

Family Historian Kathleen Gunn Turpin went to Scotland in July 1978 and got as many records as she could, plus researched families in America. At that time Hugh and Margaret (Marion) had over 750 descendants that she could find. They included 41 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren (with 32 known living at that time), 143 G-great Grandchildren, 288 G-G-great Grandchildren and 177 G-G-G-great Grandchildren, with a dozen or so in next generation.

After the Highland Clearances those that were lucky enough to remain in the Creich and Dornoch and other Highland Parishes were forced to liveon such miserable land allotments, or scraps of moor and bogland, that they lived in great poverty. The area of Kinlochloggan is now part of the Andrew Carnegie estate.

Of their 7 sons only Finlay remained along with his two sisters in Scotland, with the other sons all going to North America (Canada and U.S.) around the 1850's.
