From an article "Voices and Echoes" by Faye Tennyson Davidson of Balivar, TN, furnished by Mildred Martin of Ripley, Ms:
"In the Bolivar (TN) Bulletin for 1892, there is a death notice for Mrs. Patsy Godwin who died at home of daughter, Mrs John W. Kinney, near Whiteville last Thursday, 88 years old. Date of paper 14 Oct. 1892. (Patsy was a pet name for Martha.)"
She was buried in the Kinney Family Cemetery "located near Midway Baptist Church of Vilvo Road on the first dirt road in a pine thicket" in an unmarked grave. The cemetery is now abandoned.

A great-grandson, Glen Kinney, said they called her "the little Dutch woman" because of the clothes she had on in the picture. He also said that when the family moved from Blue Mountain, Mississippi, to Tennessee it was winter because the kids were in the back of the wagon (one was his father) with quilts thrown on them and it started snowing. Annie Mae, who was the wife of Uncle John Kinney (the little boy in the picture) told me a tale about Grandpa John Kinney burning fence posts in the field one day and catching his beard on fire. [Glenda Kinney Doyle, 2014]
