∼Akrial/Achrol H. Godwin was born about 1841 in Tennessee, the son of Allen Godwin and his second wife Martha 'Patsy' Reynolds. The family came to Tippah County, Mississippi, before the beginning of the Civil War. He and five of his brothers of served in the Confederacy. He enlisted in the Confederate cause on July 31, 1861, at Orizaba, Mississippi, a private in Company B. 23rd Regiment, Mississippi Volunteers. He died at Hopkinsville, Kentucky, on November 6, 1861, at age 20, while in Confederate service.


PVT Goodwin died during a measles, typhoid and pneumonia at the nearby Confederate military Camp Alcorn in Hopkinsville.
