CUMBERLAND, Jan. 21 — Joanna Finchum, 86, of Cumberland, died Monday, January 18, 2010 in Richmond. Born in Meherrin on March 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joe Ben Waddell and Annie Lee Skinner Waddell. She was the widow of Claude Eugene Finchum Sr. and was predeceased by two children, Claude E. Finchum Jr. and Mary Finchum Mutch.
Survivors include her children, Reva Hammonds and husband, Lewis Sr. of Farmville, Wilbert "Harold" Finchum and wife, Carol of Sumter, SC, Shirley Peters and husband, Pete of Cumberland, Betty O'Neil and husband, Billy of Farmville and Boyd Lee Finchum and wife, Rhonda of Richmond; sisters, Sallie Vancoover of Hampden-Sydney, Lil-lie Moore of Colonial Heights and Bertha West of Charlotte Court House, 30 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment in the Meherrin United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, is serving the family.
