MRS. JOSEPH HOFFMAN DIES SUDDENLY ON LOUISVILLE VISIT
Mrs. Catherine Hoffmann, 69, wife of Joseph J. Hoffmann of R. 4 Jasper, died suddenly of a heart attack at 2:45 Saturday afternoon while visiting at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frank Soeder, in Louisville. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffmann and some other local relatives had gone to Louisville to be present Sunday morning when Mr. and Mrs. Soeder's daughter, Dorothy Ann, received her Solemn Communion. Mrs. Hoffman was born at Celestine on May 15, 1884, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schnell. Surviving besides the husband and daughter are three other daughters, Mrs. Leroy Breitweiser and Mrs. Lawrence Bellner of Jasper, and Mrs. Herman Degener of Louisville: three sons, Albert of Jasper and Joseph and George of Louisville: four sisters, Mrs. Martin Leisman of St. Anthony, Mrs. George Hettich, Mrs. Mamie Guenthner and Mrs. Louis Heichelbech of Louisville; a brother August of Celestine and 25 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three daughters Matilda, Caroline and Amelia; two brothers, Louis and Albert Schnell; and one sister, Mrs. Joe Leisman. Mrs. Hoffmann underwent an operation in Memorial last June for amputation of her right leg as the result of diabetes. Friends may pay their respects after 6 this evening at the Becher and Son Mortuary. Services will be held in Holy Family Church at 9 A.M. Wednesday, followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery.
