Edward was a son of Betsy (Wood) and Alpheus Richardson of Woodstock, Connecticut. On Dec 30, 1804, he and siblings Sarah, Fanny, Patty, and Seneca Richardson, children of Alpheus and Betsy Richardson were baptized "on the mothers account" at Woodstock, Connecticut.


He married Laurinda Phillips on 31 Mar, 1830 at Sturbridge, Mass. They were farmers there until after 1850 then moved to Big Spring (later named New Haven), Wisconsin. He died at Ableman (Rock Springs), Wisconson. His son, Edward, preceded him in death during the Civil War. He was survived by his wife.
