The community was much shocked on Tuesday morning to hear that Joel Conoway one of the foremost citizens of Huston township had died after a severe attack of la grippe.

Joel was the son of Sam'l. and Susannah Conoway. The father was one of the first settlers in this country and was a highly respected citizen of the township. He lived for years on the finest farm in Hickory, dying at an advanced age several years ago.

Joel was 50 years 8 months and 14 days. He had always lived on the big farm and was an active and successful businessman.

He was married some years ago to Miss Kirk and leaves the widow and two children. The other survivors of the family are Absalom, a brother, and the sisters, Mrs. William Kilmer and Mrs. Alex Berkey. Mrs. Geo. Dodd is deceased.

Joel Conoway was an industrious, honest citizen, faithful to his friends. May he rest in peace from his busy life.
