James Harvey, son of Nicholas and Sarah Ann (James) harvey, was born 10 Oct 1782. He married 28 Dec 1813 Nancy Snidow (also seen as Snider) born 9 Jan 1796 died 25 Jun 1880. Nancy was the daughter of Col. Christian Snidow 15 Mar 1760-17 Sept 1836 and Mary Burk 22 Jan 1762-5 May 1825
Upon the death of James' father, Nicholas, in 1826, the Red Sulphur property passed to James and his brother, John. In 1830, they erected a pavillion over the spring and improved the accommondations. James operated the spa until Mar 1833 when the property was sold to Dr. William Burke of Alabama and Richmond Va.
James and Nancy lived on this site orginally occupied by Nicholas and Sarah Ann. James died 26 Mar 1861, his will dated 26 Mar 1856 was recorded in Monroe County Will Book 7 pages 273-274 on 24 Sept 1866. James and Nancy are buried in the old Harvey Cemetery in Monroe County.
All James' children were mentioned in the will except Nicholas Harvey, Christian Snidow Harvey and William Henry Harvey. These children were listed in the old Harvey Bible, but not mentioned in the will. It is assumed that they were not living at the time of James death in 1856 and possibly were not married. There is a marriage listed for one Nicholas Harvey to Harriet Williams in 1834, however this could not be Nicholas Harvey son of James, because of his age. Also a marriage for a Christian Harvey to Sarah Miller seems highly unlikely because of his age Ref Monroe County Marriage Book 1 page 80
