Allen Transfer and Storage operated a progressive firm. In 1950, the company added one of the most modern steel and concrete fireproof warehouses in San Antonio. In 1955, as the exclusive agent for United Van Lines, in San Antonio, they added a branch in Laredo. The first warehouse was at 2205 Iturbide and the next at 4506 Santa Maria. A fleet of modern vans allowed them to move Military personal from Laredo, Corpus Christi, and Del Rio Military bases. His wife Rita was an integral part of the company. Since the company provided international shipping to and From Mexico, working with the US Customs at the Laredo International Bridge, Buddy & Rita were very active in the Good Neighbor Council and traveled to Mexico to promote it and establish chapters. Due to International trade on the border, they contracted and provided storage for the US Customs.
