John Bedwell was born June 11, 1778 in Rowan Co. Nc. died April 24, 1859 in Sullivan Co. In. His parents were Robert T. Bedwell and Elender Black. John Bedwell married Permellia Milly Marsh on May 28, 1811 in Shelby Co. Ky. In 1819 they moved to Sullivan Co. Indiana. He helped organize the first church (Methodist) in Pleasantville in 1819. John has been proven to be a son of Revolutionary War soldier Robert Thomas Bedwell.
