Joe Devir was a "stringer" for
The Philadelphia Evening Bulletin
and wrote a trapshooting column
for that newspaper.

Joe spent every Saturday evening in the
Bulletin library, clipping news stories
which he thought were interesting, and
mailing them to all of his friends, whether
or not they welcomed such mailings.

Joe would buy a pie at Horn and Hardart's
in 30th Street Station, bring the pie to the
Bulletin library, slice it up with a glue-stained scissors, and offer a piece to anyone who happened by.

Joe was a very nice man.
