Leona Wood DeAtley, 85, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010, in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 27, 1925, in Dunn, NC, the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Jones Wood. Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She would look after everyone and mentor all of the other children whom she knew. She was a private bus driver who once drove the former wrestler Magnum T.A. Terry Allen to school. She loved to fish and visit old friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her three daughters, Brenda Kelly and husband Terry of Zuni, VA, and Sandra Spence and husband Buddy of Hertford, NC, and Melva Wood of Portsmouth, VA; her grandson, Sean Kelly and wife Christina of Windsor, VA; her three great grandchildren, Kyle, Aiden Kelly, and Britney Whitmore; also her numerous family and friends. She is also survived by her special friends Marvin Price and Dottie Patton.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 1, 2010, at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, 653 Cedar Rd. Chesapeake, VA 23322. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3920 Airline Blvd, Portsmouth.
