Shirley Aiken of Claremont, NH died May 20, 2005 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH surrounded by her family. She was born in Lyndon, VT on August 16, 1928 the daughter of Frank O. and Bernice J. (Mathews) Caron and had resided in Claremont for sixty-seven years.

Shirley retired on December 31, 1990 from Tambrands, Inc. where she worked for twenty-six years as a machine operator and had previously worked for Dartmouth Woolen Mill and the shoe shops in the area.

She was the widow of Leonard Roy Aiken, Sr. whom she married on July 3, 1948. He died on December 9, 1994.

Shirley is survived by one son, Leonard R. "Bud" Aiken, Jr. and his wife, Cecelia; three daughters, Bonnie L. Cummings and her husband Theodore, Brenda L. Aiken and Bernice L. "Tammie" DeMasse and her husband, Raymond all of Claremont; four grandchildren, Lenni-Jo Aiken, Christopher Aiken, Dr. Chad Frost and Calvin Frost; three great-grandchildren, Nikki Aiken, Eathan Frost and Sam Frost; one brother, Robert M. Caron of N. Stratford, NH; three cousins, Phyllis Locke of Barnet, VT, Jean Clark of Manchester, NH and Carolyn Holland of Phoenix, AZ; her pet boxer "Scooter"; two nieces.

She was predeceased by one cousin, Ann Langmaid.

A graveside committal service for Shirley and her husband Leonard will be held in Union Cemetery.
