Robert was a son of John Delbert and Marion (Hart) Townsley. He graduated from Derby High School in 1957. Later he worked as a surveyor for the city of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Bonneville County, Idaho, from 1963 to 1976 then proceeded onto road construction overseas for many years. Survivors include 4 sons, Robert M. Townsley and John Townsley, both of Idaho Falls, Scott Townsley, Livermore, Calif.,and Cody Townsley, Omaha, Neb.;a daughter, Vickie Townsley, Idaho Falls;two brothers, John Townsley, Winfield, and William H. Townsley, Lenexa, Kansas;2 sisters, Beverly Hartman, Bozeman, Mont.,and Ruth Ann Martin, Dayton, Ohio;and 6 grandchildren.
