At one time the Lowdermilks lived in the Cajah's Mountain area; they also lived in Happy Valley. She had a sister, Goula Irene "Gooley"; and two brothers, David Munro and William Lowdermilk.
Salvadora possibly met her future husband at Harper's Chapel Methodist Church. She married William Rufus Nelson and they made their home in Patterson, North Carolina. While the Nelsons lived in Patterson, Salvadora was very involved in Harper's Chapel.
Salvadora died of a stroke while visiting relatives near Asheville, NC. She is buried near her parents and beside her husband and sons in the family plot.
