Alwilda Long was the daughter of William Long and Naomi Ellen Decker. She was born in Weston, Wood county Ohio on August 19, 1870 . She was the first of eight children born to William and Naomi. She was educated in the Wood county schools and was a teacher until her marriage to John Franklin Werner on Christmas day, 1894. To this marriage, three children were born, Roy Harold, 1897, Wilbur Earl, 1898 and Ruth Lynn, 1900. Roy Harold passed away of spinal meningitis at the age of 18 months. She divorced John F. Werner in June of 1902. She met and married William Walters in Nov of 1902. William and Alwilda came to California in 1902, they lived in Norwalk, Los Angeles county, then in Lordsburg,(now known as LaVerne) California before making their home in Baldwin Park, Los Angeles California. She lived on their farm for 52 years. Her husband William preceeded her in death. Her daughter Ruth and husband Aaron Eaton raised their children in the same location.
