J.T. Rickman married M.L. James on 16 November 1881 in the Anadarko community, in Young County, officiated by G.W. Fore, Justice of the Peace. She preceded him in death. One child was born into this union, Lee Rickman.

Jesse Rickman moved to Young County with his mother and brothers in 1873. The family lived south of Graham for a time while Jesse Rickman worked on area farms and ranches.
Judge Rickman came to Young County to shoot buffalos and Indians. The buffalos and Indians played out soon after Judge Rickman went to work. He put in the Graham Milling Company with S.R. Crawford in 1892.
