His parents were Friedrich Johann Christian "Chris" Grüschow and Louise "Eliza" Rose.
He was a clerk in his uncle John Gruschow's grocery store, a teamster and later owned Albert Gruschow's Flour & Feed Business.
He was married to Clara Hauf, who died at 34 yrs. old in 1897.
He later lived with his only surviving child, out of five, Edna Clara Gruschow Youngberg and her husband Arthur Ernest Youngberg.
He was survived by two grand-children, Geraldine Youngberg, and Harold Peter Gruschow aka Thomas Harold Tychsen.
