Betty Marie Collier, 88, of Graysville, passed away at Sunday March 9, 2014 at Breckenridge Nursing Home in Sullivan, IN.
She was born in Merom, IN June 6, 1925 the daughter of Ores Houpt and Belva Boman Houpt.
Betty graduated from Merom High School, worked at the Merom Drug Store, and later Quaker Maid in Terre Haute.
On May 12, 1944, she married Thomas Lee Collier, became a homemaker and worked beside Tom for their 50 plus years together. Though they had no family of their own, children were always a part of their lives. She loved all of her nieces, nephews and their families, also two special boys Pat and Mike Kelly.
Betty loved fishing from a big rock on the bank of Turman Creek, IU basketball, her pet pony Stormy and racing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom in 1996, two brothers, Robert and Paul Houpt.
Survivors include two sisters, Oma Weaver of Melbourn, FL, and Anna Poole of Terre Haute, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday March 12, 2014 at Banks and Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan, In with Rev. Paul Gettinger officiating. Interment will follow in the Mann Turman Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
