John Spencer Gallup, son of Kinney and Mary H. Gallup born at Voluntown, Conn., Sept. 16. 1859 and passed away at his home in Blue Ridge on Nov. 22, 1926, aged 67 years, 2 months and 6 days.
In December of 1865 he together with his parents moved to Illinois and settled on a farm in Hallock township where he grew to manhood. His entire life with the exception of 3 years being spent in this locality.
On Sept. 23, 1881 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Burns and to this union where born three children whom survive him.
He was a man who always tried to do his duty as a citizen, both in private and public life and served his community for several terms as supervisor. He was a member of the Masonic, Woodman and Odd Fellow Lodges. Always a kind and affectionate husband and father, a genial friend who never treated any person as a stranger.
Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his death 3 children: Vinnie Aitchison of Peoria, Roy of Chillicothe and Mabel McMullen of Eden. Two sisters, Emma J. Briggs, Cedar, Iowa and Nellie M. Custer, Chillicothe. One brother Wm. K. Gallup Libertyville, Ia., Six grandchildren and a host of friends. Two brothers, Prentiss L. and Frederick T. having preceded him in death.
