SOCHOCKY, EDNA V. (NEE FILLING) 90 - of Ventnor, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Born November 6, 1919 in Absecon, she lived in Pomona, Atlantic City and Ventnor. She spent her adult life raising her eight children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always active in school and scouting activities including PTA President and Scout Mother. She spent nearly 40 years teaching Sunday school at St. John's By-The-Sea. Edna was preceded in death by her parents Louis H. Filling, Sr., Alma Showell Filling and Bessie Filling; her sisters Alma Filling, Beatrice Bowden; and brothers Louis H. Filling, Jr., William Edward Filling and John Kenneth Filling. She is survived by her husband John; sister Dorothy Moose; sister-in-laws Marjorie McGuigan and Marilyn (Sue) Filling; children Betty Lou Sochocky, John Patrick, Sr., Ellen (John) Rush, Edna (Roland) Starr, Beatrice (Arthur) Petrella, Stanley (Terry), Donna (Mark) Fisher, Richard (Ellen); grandchildren John, Heather, Erin, Jessica, Candace, Douglas, Brenda, Roland, Kristin, Korin, Ryan, Briann, Lindsay, Shane, Scott, Amy, Karri, Austin, Arley; 15 great-grandchildren and special friends Paula and Dennis Demerest and Marie Adams and Patty Allen. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 16th at St. John's By-The-Sea Church, Ventnor and Sacramento Aves., Ventnor where friends may call beginning at 9:30 am.
