To the memory of Mary Ellen, wife of Douglas H. Gordon and daughter of Colin Clarke, who was born the 16th September, 1822, and departed this life the 22nd of December, 1848, in the 27th year of her age. Hast thou the vigor of thy youth, an eye that beams delight, a heart untaught to sigh, yet fear; youth oft-times healthful and at ease, anticipates a day it never sees.
