Mrs. Godwin Observes 84th Birthday Sunday
Has Been Living in Bryan Thru Last 64:
Mrs. E. L. Godwin, one of Bryan's pioneer women, celebrated her eighty-fourth birthday Sunday at her home on East 25th street, where she lives with her daughter, Mrs. L. A. Robertson.
On this occasion another daughter, Mrs. A. L. Smith of Houston, made a visit, returning home Monday. The two daughters and Mrs. Godwin spent the day quietly, with no special celebration planned. Grandchildren and great grandchildren also came by bringing presents and best wishes.
Mrs. Godwin came here from Winona, Miss., at the age of 20 with her husband, having spent the last 64 years in Bryan. They came straight to Bryan from Winona, travelling by boat to Galveston and coming from there to Bryan, which was on the end of the railroad then.
