Retired Milford Resident Was 65
Funeral rites for Ambrose H. Barnes, 65, Milford, who died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital here, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Milford Methodist Church with the Rev. Arnold Atkins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Milford Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home here from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and the body will lie in state at the church for one hour before the service Saturday morning.
A native of Decatur County, he was born May 1, 1903, the son of F. Cornelias and Nettie Welsch Barnes.
He was married Fe. 28, 1925, to Mary Ogden, who preceded him in death November 29, 1967. Mr. and Mrs. Barnes moved to Indianapolis in 1934 and resided there until 1962 when they returned to Milford.
He was a retired member of the security force at Schwitzer Corporation, a division of Wallace Murray, Inc., at Indianapolis.
Surviving are: A brother, H. Kenneth Barnes of Corona Del Mar, Calif.; a half-sister, Mrs. Leona Heininger of Greenwood; and two step-brothers. He was also preceded in death by a sister.
