Pearl Acton, 90, of Bloomington, passed away Monday at the Bedford Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born Aug. 13, 1919, Mrs. Acton had first worked as a sewing machine operator at M. Fines and Sons in Bedford, and then later, she went to work for the Crane Naval Weapons Base as a munitions assembler, retiring in the 1970s. She moved to Satsuma, Fla., in the 1980s, where she lived until returning to Indiana.
She was a member of the Church of God. Mrs. Acton enjoyed exercising, especially swimming and riding her bicycle, and being with her friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Acton; three daughters, Barbara Lee Shaw, Janet Kopp and Donna Jo Younger; and one brother, Paul Edwards.
Mrs. Acton is survived by a stepson, Bud Acton of Indiana; a daughter, Vicki Walters of Bloomington; a stepdaughter, Reva Bair of Bedford; a brother, George Edwards of Mitchell; a sister, Lucille Tackett of Bedford; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The crypt-side service was Thursday at the Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City, Fla., with Pastor Ben Tippett officiating.
