Louise Kimel Burgess, 84, loving wife of Reid H. Burgess, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and her dad, mother, and baby sister, on Friday evening, April 23, 2010. She was born on May 27, 1925, in Winston-Salem to Carl C. and Elma Snyder Kimel. Louise was a lifelong and faithful member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she served with the Lillian Evans Women's Circle and as a Worship Service Greeter. She was a graduate of Draughns Business College and held certifications from the Insurance Institute of America. She retired after 25 years of service from Integon, where she worked in the tax accounting department. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Allene Kimel. She is survived by her loving husband; and two sons, Larry Burgess (Robin) of Lewisville, and Brad Burgess (Pam) of Winston- Salem. She was the loving "Granny I'ese" to Jennifer Snipes (Richard) of Elon and Josh Burgess (Renea) of Lewisville, and loving "Granny Louise" to Hayley Burgess and Krista Burgess of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by loving brothers, John S. Kimel of Winston-Salem, and Robert "Bob" Kimel of Harrisburg, PA; and a loving sister, Carmell Kimel of High Point. She was especially close to sisters-in-law, Violet Kimel and Melba Sidden. She enjoyed planting flowers, working with her husband, and entertaining family and friends at their mountain house near Hillsville, VA. Louise was a gentle and selfless person who always put others before herself. She will always be remembered for her love for her Church and family. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with the Reverends: Doug Houchmuth, Lee Ellis, and Ken Eller officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Parsonage Fund, 4265 Ebert Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family wishes to thank her friends and church family for all their support. They express gratitude to Dr. Steven Akman, Dr. Robert Eberle, and the ICU nurses at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for their care and compassion. "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the Faith. Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness." - II Timothy 4:7-8
