A. B. Newton, 71, of Belle Plain Road, a fisherman, died early today in a hospital at Staunton. He had been in ill health for a number of years. He was a native of Stafford County.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lillie M. Newton, of RFD 2, Fredericksburg; four daughters, Mrs. Carter Newton, Mrs. Odell Curtis and Mrs. George Newton, all of RFD 2, and Mrs. Joseph Sullivan, of King's Highway; five sons, Frank, Bennie, Robert and Edward Newton, all of RFD 2, and George Newton, of King's Highway; one sister, Mrs. Dora Chilton, of RFD 2, 16 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wheeler & Thompson Funeral home, with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ted Bourne, Elmer Chilton, Dalphs Jett, Eddie Jett, Luther Jett Jr. and Lloyd Jett.
