Mildred's life was one of tragedy, and perserverance. He mother died of cancer when she was still a school girl. An auto accident resulted in the death of Mary Joan, and Jean being paralyzed from the neck down. Both she and Almet took Mary Joan's death very hard, but they rose to the occasion of taking care of Jean until they no longer could because of old age. Her love for her husband was pure and unwavering, and that love was returned by Almet. The couple were faithful members of the Liberty United Methodist Church in Kirkpatrick, Ohio. She was, as they say back home "good people." She really was the best.
