Joseph Kaup received a telegram Monday, informing him of the death of his brother-in-law, Charles Grovijohn, near Keystone, South Dakota. His death was the result of an accident in or about the mines, the particulars of which are not given. Deceased was a resident of West Point and Cuming County until about seven years ago, having homesteaded here in the early '60's. From here he removed to Dodge, where he resided a short time before going to South Dakota. During the Civil War he served as a volunteer soldier in Company A, First Nebraska Regiment.
In 1868 he was united in marriage to Mary Kaup whose death occurred eight years ago. Five children survive him to mourn his loss: Fred W. who resides at Constance, Nebraska; Mrs. Henry M. Kaup, of Monterey; Bertha, now living at Howells; Henry, of Carroll, Nebraska; and Sophia, who resided with her father at Keystone. Note: Daughter, Mary Grovijohn resided at Constance, Nebraska with her brother Fred. (She was inadvertently omitted from this notice.) contributed by Pat Bockholt!
