H. Grovijohn Laid to Rest Nov. 23
He was A Prominent Farmer Of the Monterey Vicinity Since His Marriage in 1891.
The funeral services for Henry Grovijohn , a prominent farmer of the Monterey vicinity, were held at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning, November 23, at St. Boniface church at Monterey with Rev. Father Henry Schoof officiating. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.
Henry Grovijohn was born in May, 1863 at St. Charles. He received his education in the Catholic school at that place. On June 3, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Ortmeier at Monterey. Their union was blessed with six sons and one daughter. Mr. Grovijohn followed the occupation of farming, having resided on a farm near Monterey since his marriage. Four months ago Mr. Grovijohn suffered internal hemorrhages but was since then apparently feeling quite well. At 11:30 o'clock he suffered another hemorrhage, which caused almost instant death. He was 65 years old at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, six sons, Ferdinand and Fritz of south Dodge, Joe and Henry of West Point, and John and Anton and one daughter, Justina, at home; one brother, William of St. Charles; three sisters, Bertha (Joseph F.)Kaup, Gertrude (Herman) Meister, and Lena (John) Schueth of West Point; and four grandchildren.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Anton Bogner, Mrs. Fred Plantenberg and two sons, and Mrs. William Goeken and two sons, all of Crofton; Rosie Ostendorf of Randolph; and Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Emanuel of North Bend.
