The Hon. Charles Sumner was born in Roxbury, Mass. He settled in Middlebury, Ohio, (now Akron), in 1817 at the age of 23. He was a Justice of Portage County, Ohio for nine years. He Also was a Justice for Summit County, Ohio from it's formation untill his death in 1845 at the age of 51.
