Obituary from the "News-Tribune" of Duluth, Minnesota dated Tuesday 5 Nov 1996:
Frank William Spicer, Jr., M.D., 78, of Butte Avenue, died Monday, Nov. 4, 1996, very peacefully in his home.
He was born in Duluth and was a 1935 graduate of Duluth Central High School, and a 1939 graduate of the University of Michigan. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1943. He served as a captain in the Army from 1946 to 1948. He was an instructor of surgery at the University of Buffalo from 1951 to 1953; the University of California, San Francisco from 1955 to 1957, and was professor of surgery from 1958 to 1975. He was the director of medical education at Children's Hospital in San Francisco from 1965 to 1981. He was a member of the American Medical Association, California Medical Association, San Francisco Medical Society and the San Francisco Surgical Society.
His parents were Frank and Madeline (Miller) Spicer. His brother, Richard, died in May.
Survivors include two sisters, Elinor S. Bell of Duluth and Barbara S. MacGregor of Washington, D.C.; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Services: noon Wednesday in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bell Brothers Funeral Directors.
