Sherry worked as a supervisor in the human resources department for Freeman Health Systems. She was awarded the Chairman's Award on her 20th year with Freeman, Freeman was an important part of Sherry's life and was like her second family. She enjoyed reading, cooking, shopping and sports. She was a member of the Carl Junction Christian Church.
Sherry was united into marriage with Mike Vaughan on June 26, 1976 in Carthage, Mo., he survives. Additional survivors include one son, Nicholas Vaughan of Carl Junction and one daughter, Jessica Vaughan of Joplin; two brothers, Bill Yates and his wife Sue of Ozark, Mo., Gary Yates and his wife Cindy of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Sarah Biles and her husband Larry of Manhattan, Ks. and Connie Yates-Brown of Tulsa, Ok.; one brother-in-law, Bob McDaniel, fifteen nieces and nephews and a host of great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Charlene McDaniel.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel. Boyce Mouton, Minister and Gary Thomas, Chaplin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Those gentleman serving as pallbearers are, Bob McDaniel, Larry Vaughan, Eric Day, Luke Montague, Drew Montague and Matt Vaughan. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.
