Anthony “Tony” Eggink was born September 7, 1912 to Albertus and Josie (Vrymoet) Eggink on the family farm west of Chandler in Moulton Township, Murray County. He was baptized at the Chandler Reformed Church in Chandler and attended Country School District #39. He lived with his family on several farms in the Chandler area before they settled Northeast of town. He farmed along with his father and two brothers his whole life.
He was a lifelong member of the Chandler Reformed Church, where he had served as an usher for many years and was a member of the Men’s Brotherhood. Tony was also a member of the Farmer’s Union and the NFO. He enjoyed gardening, studying railroads and horses. He learned from his father, the breaking and training of horses and trained many to be good farm horses. He loved all aspects of farming and will be remembered for his loving and caring personality and the gentle, quiet way about himself that he possessed.
Tony stayed on the family farm until recently when he moved into the assisted living apartments in Jasper, Minnesota. On Wednesday, January 26, 2005, Tony entered the Luverne Community Hospital in Luverne, Minnesota where he died on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at the age of 92.
Tony is survived by two sisters, Bernice Eggink and Josephine Eggink both of Pipestone, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews.
His parents, two brothers, Joe and Lenderd, and two sisters, Catherine Vander Lugt and Jeanette Karssen preceded him in death.
