Melvin E Schreiber, 79, of 21502 Schreiber Road, Kiel, died Sunday morning, April 29, 2001 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center where he was a patient the past 4 days.
He was born June 29, 1921 in the town of Schleswig, son of Paul and Elfreida Reichwaldt Schreiber. He attended Hillside Grove School. On Oct. 27, 1945, Melvin married Lucille Koppelmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Mosel. Melvin farmed all his life, retiring in 1990. Melvin also did carpentry work. He was a lifetime member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ in the town of Schleswig where he was a member of the Church Consistory and the cemetery board. Melvin enjoyed his family, playing card, gardening and had a love of birds.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Lucille; two children, Ronald (Joyce) Schreiber of Kiel and Marilyn (Tom) Brickbauer of Kiel; one daughter-in-law, Lois Schreiber of Plymouth, four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He is further survived by three sisters, Ruth Casper, Evelyn Burkhardt and Carol (Jerome) Balz, all of Kiel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marlene and Arno Koeser of Sheboygan Falls and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Marvin and one grandson, Derek Schreiber.
