Actress. Born Adelaida Delgado, to parents of Hispanic descent, she began dancing at age 8 and was discovered by bandleader Xavier Cugat, becoming a member of his orchestra during her mid-teens. This led to her Hollywood career, as she was put under contract with Columbia Pictures in 1941, and appeared in minor roles in the films "Blondie Goes to College" (1941), "Kiss and Wake Up" (1942), and "His Girl's Worst Friend" (1943). It would be with Republic Pictures, where she achieved her greatest success on the big screen, most notably opposite Gene Autry in "Twilight on the Rio Grande" (1947), and John Wayne in "Wake of the Red Witch" (1948) and "Sands of Iwo Jima" (1949). After appearing in more than 20 motion pictures, her film career began to taper off following her marriage to television writer and producer Roy Huggins during the mid-1950s. However, she would frequent the small screen in guest roles on numerous programs, including "77 Sunset Strip", "Maverick" and "Thriller", before retiring from the entertainment industry during the 1970s. She died from natural causes at age 87.
