Calvin 'Toot' Bredbenner
Magee Carpet retiree enjoyed gardening
Calvin "Toot" Bredbenner, 88, of rural Bloomsburg concluded his journey in this life at 2:38 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, in the emergency room of the Bloomsburg Hospital, after being stricken ill at home.
Born in Bloomsburg on March 8, 1922, he was a son of the late Clint and Violet Bredbenner.
During World War II, he served in the Army during the invasion of Normandy.
Calvin was a retiree of Magee Carpet Co. and had been active in its union.
A member of St. Peter's "Harger's" Lutheran Church, rural Bloomsburg, he enjoyed nature and working in his garden.
He now joins his wife of 611/2 years, the former Lorene T. Chapman, who died March 7, 2003; stepson Billie Vest, in 1992, and brother Phil Drumheller.
Calvin will be remembered by daughter-in-law Mardelle Vest, Binghamton, N.Y.; five grandchildren and their families from the Binghamton area; four Drumheller nieces and nephews and their families from the Buffalo, N.Y., area; dear friend Patty Horn, rural Bloomsburg, and her late husband Harry.
"Forever in our Hearts."
He is entrusted to the care of the Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge, following visitation.
Memorial services to honor his life and faith will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mountain Grove, with his pastor, the Rev. Stanley Bower, presiding.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the memorial fund of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 114 Beaver Valley Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
