1932 - 2010

Nancy Dianich Stieber, a resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at home after a short illness.

Nancy was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 6, 1932. She was employed with the State of Delaware Division of Social Services, retiring after 10 years of dedicated service. Nancy was very fun loving and enjoyed traveling, having made many trips with family and friends throughout the United States and Europe. She also loved camping, even in recent years. She was known for being a prolific postcard and letter writer. From a very early age, Nancy showed an aptitude for drawing and created many portfolios of her drawings of various people. A caring and devoted mother, she was an avid lover of cats.

Nancy is the daughter of Holly M. (Sleeper) Dianich and the late Frank T. Dianich of Newark, Delaware. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sons, George W. Prinkey of Wilmington, DE, David Alkanowski and his wife, Janine of Townsend, DE and Frank Stieber and his wife, Bonnie of Salt Lake City, UT; her grandson, David M. Alkanowski, Jr. of Townsend, DE; her granddaughter, who is expected in September; her brothers, James E. Dianich of Newark, DE, David Dianich and his wife, Jacqueline of Easton, MD, A. Michael Dianich of Corbett, OR and Richard H. Dianich and his wife, Virginia Jackson of MD; her sister, Catherine Dianich Gruver of Dummerston, VT; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Starr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, E. Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark on Friday, May 14 at 10:30AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Thursday, May 13 from 6:00 - 8:00PM.
