Marjorie Maurice Smith

Marjorie Maurice Smith, 87, of Kingsland passed away Jan. 7. She was born to H.L. and Otha (Buster) Vest on May 2, 1922 in Valley Spring. Smith graduated as valedictorian of her 1939 Llano High School Class and graduated from Tarleton State University two years later. On Dec. 8, 1946, she married Granville (Speck) Smith in Austin, and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was a member of the Kingsland Community Church where she served on numerous committees and was a member of the WCO. She is a former member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Chapter in Kingsland and was instrumental in forming a chapter in Marble Falls. The New York Times Crossword Puzzle, knitting, and jigsaw puzzles were a few of her favorite hobbies including being an avid Llano Jacket and Dallas Cowboy fan. Most importantly, she loved her church and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheree Kaspar and husband Dennis of Kingsland; Kathy Willingham and husband Frank L. of Kingsland; grandchildren, Dr. Kris Kaspar and wife Dalena of Marble Falls, Cory Willingham and wife Kristel of Stephenville, and Lyssa Willingham of Kingsland; great-grandchildren, Laine Willingham of Stephenville, Samuel Kaspar of Marble Falls; sister, Avalon Faris of Burleson; niece, Jo Lowe and husband David, of Maypearl, Texas; and nephew, VH Faris and wife Pam of Godley, Texas. A visitation was held 4 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at Putnam Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 9, at the Kingsland Community Church with the Rev. Tommie Beck officiating.
Interment followed at Llano City Cemetery. Arrangements by Putnam Funeral Home & Crematory, Kingsland, and an online guest register may be signed at www.putnamfunerals.com
