LAFAYETTE - Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Calvary Cemetery for Joseph Perry Abernathy, 77, who died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military rites.
The Rev. Kathy Ogea will conduct the service.
Mr. Abernathy was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Lafayette. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He loved to read, cook and do carpenter work. He was a 32nd degree mason with the Masonic Lodge of New Orleans.
Survivors include his wife, Betty P. Abernathy, of Lafayette; one son, Dr. Edward Abernathy, of Jasper, Ala.; two step-sons, Eric Raggio, of Lafayette, and James Raggio and his wife, Tammy, of Ruston; one daughter, Linda Starns and her husband, Jim, of Loranger, La.; one brother, Russell Abernathy, of Tulsa, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.
